Blockade On Biju Expressway In Odisha As 2 Cousins Die In Scooter-SUV Collision

Bhawanipatna: Traffic came to a halt on Biju Expressway at Dharamgarh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district following a blockade over the death of two cousins in a scooter-SUV collision on Monday morning.

According to sources, the accident took place at around 7.30 am when Lingaraj Durga and Lalit Tandi, both natives of Thantgaon village under D

harmagarh police limits, were riding a scooter to Dharmagarh. The SUV, which was allegedly travelling at a high speed, crashed into their scooter. While Lingaraj Durga died on the spot under the impact of the collision in which the two-wheeler was badly damaged, Lalit Tandi was rushed to Dharamgarh sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to district headquarters hospital at Bhawanipatna, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Locals detained two occupants, including the driver, of the car and later handed them over to police. They also scuffled with police during the blockade, demanding compensation for the bereaved family and installation of traffic lights on the expressway, although the situation was later brought under control.
