Bhubaneswar: BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Wednesday alleged that a partisan approach is being adopted by the civic body in Odisha capital in removing the hoardings put up by political parties conveying new year greetings to the people.
While the hoardings put up by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) continue to fill the city skyline even ten days after the new year, those of other political parties and leaders have been removed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), she claimed.
The firebrand BJP leader said that she had spoken to the BMC Commissioner as well as Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner on the issue and sought proper steps.
In a letter to BMC Commissioner Vijay Amrit Kulange, the Lok Sabha MP said that hoardings had been put by all conveying new year greetings to the residents of Bhubaneswar.
“I have been watching for the past couple of days … all the hoardings put up by the ruling political party have not been removed. The entire city is looking awful with the ‘Green’ hoardings littering the skyline,” she said in her letter, copy of which was released to media.
The BJP leader sought to know under what circumstances, the Enforcement Squad of BMC has adopted a ‘partisan’ approach. “Under whose instruction my hoardings have been removed and ‘Green’ hoardings have been allowed to remain?” she asked.
Stating that people expect a non-partisan approach from the BMC, Aparajita sought appropriate instructions from the Commissioner to the enforcement squad of the civic body to remove all ‘green’ hoardings from all parts of the city as soon as possible.
