Bhubaneswar: As part of its beautification drive for FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 to be hosted by Odisha capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced no hoarding zones in the city.
In a notification, the BMC has earmarked the roads, areas and junctions which would be free of hoardings. The road from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Power House through AG square and Raj Bhawan will have no hoardings.
Similarly, the stretched from Rabindra Mandap to 120 Infantry Batallion, AG square to PMG and PMG to Janpath have been declared as the restricted zone.
As per the notification, putting up hoardings and banners of government, private companies or political parties is prohibited on these stretches.
The BMC has formed a special squad to enforce the restriction. The squad has been authorised to seize the poster and hoarding displayed in these areas.
The matches of Hockey World Cup will kick off at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar from January 13. Rourkela is the other place which will co-host the international sports event.
