Bhubaneswar: Appreciating the citizens for waste segregation, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday pasted thank you note on the house of people who helped the ‘safeiwalas’ by separating household waste as dry and wet.
On the first day of the drive, team members put up thank you note at the doorsteps of households that segregated waste. The teams from each administrative zone also appealed households not segregating waste or not at all giving waste to do the needful. The households were appealed to help support ‘Safeiwalas’ by segregating waste.
While green stickers have been pasted on the houses of families following waste segregation, orange sticker has been pasted on doorsteps of families giving mixed waste and red stickers have been pasted on households that are not at all giving waste and throwing it out.
“The citizen connect initiative has been taken up to involve every household as an active contributor of city sanitation drive,” said BMC Commissioner Sanjay Singh.
The drive was carried out at Badagada Brit colony- Ward 57 under South East zone; Soubhagya Nagar- Bank colony, Ward 51 under South West zone and Gajapati Nagar- Ward 12 under North Zone. About 200 households from each ward have been covered.
