Bhubaneswar: Continuing its drive against violation of COVID-19 guidelines by shops and commercial establishments, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has imposed fine on the violators in different zones under its jurisdiction.
In South East Zone, the BMC fined Rs 13,500 on the shops and persons violating the norms of social distancing and use of face masks. It also closed 20 shops in Kalpana and Satyanagar areas, Additional Commissioner II of the BMC Abani Patnaik said.
Total fine of Rs 3,500 was imposed on different persons in South West Zone while Rs 6,500 was collected as penalty in North Zone. While Rs 4,800 was collected from different shops for littering public places, Rs 7,700 fine was imposed on different hotels for violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
