Bhubaneswar: Taking its cleanliness drive a step further, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday dumped a truckload of garbage in front of the electricity department office for reportedly not cleaning the tress cut by the latter.
As per reports, the staff of electricity department cut the branches of trees which grow to touch electricity wires to prevent any untoward incident and ensure smooth power supply. But they fail to clear the cut down branches from the places. As a result, the BMC has to engage its staff to take those away to keep the place clean.
Following one such instance in Chandrasekharpur, the BMC took the collected garbage of trees in a truck and dumped those in front of the gate of the electricity office.
Peeved over the action of the BMC, the staff of the electricity department office staged a dharna, affecting the official works. They alleged that the tree parts that were dumped were not cut by them.
“We have video recording to prove that the pruned branches had been removed by us. When informed the BMC about it, they said the Commissioner had ordered them to dump the garbage,” an employee of the office said.
