Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on the enforcement squad of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for violating traffic rules.
During a checking at Nalco Square here, police detained a goods carrier hired by BMC and slapped the fine on enforcement squad officials under the new Motor Vehicles Act, 2019.
The police fined Rs 5,000 for carrying workers on the goods carrier and Rs 10,000 as the vehicle had no route permit.
In another incident, traffic police detained an auto-rickshaw driver, Kabindra Sahu, near Acharya Vihar flyover and slapped a fine of Rs 27,500 on him for violating the traffic regulations.
