Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday unearthed a multi-storey building, a farmhouse and 3 high value plots in Bhubaneswar belonging to Executive Engineer, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Jagannath Pattnaik, during raids on allegation of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A four-wheeler, a pair of antler horns and a country-made gun were also seized during simultaneous house searches at four places in Bhubaneswar and Gunupur (Rayagada) by teams led by 6 DSPs, 10 inspectors, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Assets detected are as follows:
1) A triple-storey building over 4,560 sqft area at Badagada, Bhubaneswar.
2) A farmhouse spread over 1.57 acres at Ranapur Mouza under Balianta tehsil in Khurda district. It has a double-storey building over 833 sqft area, an additional house over 570 sqft area, a fish farm pond, coconut, banana, dragon fruit, guava, grapes, blackberry, lemon, red sandalwood, and mango tree plantations and a poultry farm with 15 chicks.
3) A country-made gun and antler horns.
4) Three high-value plots, including two at Badagada and one at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar.
5) Gold weighing 200 grams.
6) One four-wheeler (Maruti Grand Vitara) and a two-wheeler.
The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently conducting detailed measurements and valuation of the identified properties and assets. Bank deposits, other financial investments, and deposits are under being verified. A locker maintained in the name of Pattnaik’s spouse is yet to be opened, a Vigilance release said.
Raids were conducted at these following places:
1. His triple-storey building at Badagada, Bhubaneswar.
2. One farmhouse at Ranapur mouza , Balianta Tehsil, Khurda district.
3. His parental house at Jangam Street, Gunupur, Rayagada.
4. His office room at BMC, Bhubaneswar.
