Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday imposed fines on several vendors near Khandagiri in Odisha capital.
According to sources, BMC officials inspected the area as part of its sanitation drive and imposed the fine because of unhygienic practices.
The civic body has urged the citizens to use twin dustbins and hand over the segregated waste to the BMC workers. “We request all to keep the area within 5 mtr-radius of the establishment clean, use twin dustbins and hand over segregated waste to the BMC Safa Gadi,” BMC said.
It is pertinent to mention here that BMC had recently sealed Yamaha’s service centre in Gajapati Nagar, Wayside Food Park at Acharya Vihar Square, Kalpana Restaurant, Moo Easy Supermart at Gajapati Nagar, Reliance Fresh outlet at Gopabandhu Square and Green Chillyz outlet earlier for poor sanitation.
A penalty of Rs 500 is being imposed on domestic and Rs 5,000 on commercial units which are found littering and not following the guidelines.
