Bhubaneswar: In a gathering at BMC office Mayor Sri Ananata Narayan Jena distributed personal protective Kit to sanitation workers of BMC. The event was organised to educate the sanitation workers about self-protection, hygiene and health care.
As prime ULB of the state, we should give utmost importance towards personal safety of our sanitation workers thereby promoting their hygiene, health and dignity as a human being. If these citizens are safe we can find our city clean and safety, said Mayor Mr. Jena. He also interacted with some of the workers and counselled to use the kit properly.
Safety from top to toe is essential for a worker engaged in sanitation activity. Hence helmet, mask, apron, raincoat and gun boots were distributed to the sanitation workers according to their body measurement. This is also an important component under Swachh Bharat Mission, said Dr. Lalatendu Sahu, Deputy Commissioner, Social Welfare.
A total of 850 sanitation workers will be provided such personal protective kit, the distribution of which started today. Deputy Mayor K. Santi gave vote of thanks and encouraged the workers that they will be technically sound to improve sanitation activities of the city.
Among other officials City Health Officer Dr. Rama Chandra Rout, Chief Finance Officer Mr. Labanya Sabar and Mr. Debases Mohanty, OSD to Mayor were present on the occasion and encouraged the sanitation workers for their dedication of keeping Bhubaneswar clean.
