Bhubaneswar: A set of guidelines have been released by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday to ensure an environment-friendly Durga Puja celebration in the Odisha capital.
BMC aims at replacing use of plastic with biodegradable materials and natural colors for idols. Puja committees have been instructed to supply enough dustbins and ensure that immersion of idols is done at designated water bodies, the guidelines stated.
Special parking and security measures have also been recommended by the BMC.
The civic body has directed the puja committees to ensure adequate measures to avoid fire mishaps due to short-circuiting.
