BMC Staff Protest Over Sanitary Inspector’s Death In Road Mishap In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Sanitary inspectors of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday staged a protest, demanding Rs 50 lakh compensation to the family of a staff who died after being hit by a speeding car on Rajmahal flyover in the city last night.

Placing the body of the deceased in front of the BMC office, they also sought suspension of sanitation work being carried out during night hours.

According to sources, BMC sanitary inspector Hritik Roshan was on night duty and monitoring the sanitary work when he was run over by the car around 1 am. He died on the spot.

The irate locals then caught hold of the car driver, who was reportedly drunk, and assaulted him. They later set the car on fire.

Police and firefighters soon reached the spot and doused the flames. The vehicles were seized and the driver was detained. by police for questioning.
