Bhubaneswar: In order to prevent vehicle owners from being exploited by the attendants at parking space in capital city, the BMC has decided to put up information boards at those places.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken the decision after receiving several complaints that the parking attendants were charging far more than the fees fixed by the BMC.
The BMC has provided parking facility at 71 different spots in the city for the convenience of vehicle owners and prevent traffic congestion.
Of the total parking lots, 15 are reserved for the employees of offices and organisations which have booked those after paying the annual fees to the BMC.
The rest 56 parking spaces have been auctioned by the BMC to private parties. The vehicle owners have complained that the space let out to private parties have been charging hefty parking fees in violation of the BMC direction.
As per the decision taken by the BMC, sign boards will be installed at the parking places mentioning detailed information. It will mention area of parking, fees, bidders’ names and phone numbers to file complaint for any kind of harassment.
