BMC To Resume Random COVID-19 Test In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Concerned over the average daily COVID-19 cases of more than 150 in the state capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to resume random test of the people in busy thoroughfares and hospitals soon.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, BMC Additional Commissioner Laxmikant Sethi said as a majority of daily positive cases in the state are reported from Khurda district, especially in Bhubaneswar, it has been decided to resume the random test of people in vending zones, daily markets and malls. Apart from this, there will be random test of the people coming to hospitals in the city.

“We are planning to increase the daily COVID test and collect more samples. Priority will be given to increase the daily random test to 8,000,” Sethi said.

Welcoming the decision of the BMC to conduct the random test of the people coming to the hospitals, Director of the Capital Hospital Dr Laxmidhar Sahoo said the test should also be conducted on the patients and the hospital authorities.

It is worthwhile here to mention that Bhubaneswar has reported 2726 COVID positive cases in the last 15 days till October 15.
