Bhubaneswar: Family members of two martyred soldiers of Odisha were honoured on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day here on Wednesday.
Sunil Kumar Behera (Deputy Commandant, BSF) and Sibasis Panda (Constable, BSF) recently attained martyrdom in the line of duty. They were killed in an IED blast incident in Koraput district.
In the event organised by Bhubaneswar Maha Sangathan (BMS), a social organisation, their family members hoisted the national flag.
The members of the organisation spent a whole day with the senior citizens at the old age shelter home of Odisha Patita Udhara Samiti, Unit–6 here and interacted with them followed by lunch.
BMS’s motto behind this programme was to make the younger generation aware of their responsibilities towards the country and society. And also to make them realize the spirit of that magical night of 1947 and move on to the path shown by freedom fighters.
Among others, senior leaders of BMS Littu Routray, Prakash Kumar Mallick, Sidhant Acharya, Saroj Jena, Madhusudan Nayak and Sashank Das were present.
