Kendrapara: The 108 boat ambulance service was launched in remote areas of Batighara and Jamboo panchayats of Mahakalapada block of Kendrapara district on Tuesday to help patients reach hospitals smoothly from remote areas cut off by rivers.
Mahakalapada MLA Sabyasachi Nayak inaugurated the service in south Barakolikhala ghat. The ambulance boat will have four staff and and necessary medical equipment to provide patients primary treatment. Over 25,000 residents will benefit from this service.
Two boat ambulances have been sanctioned for Malkangiri, two for Kendrapara and one each for Koraput and Kalahandi districts in the past month.
