Malkangiri: Collector Yeddula Vijay on Friday inaugurated the boat ambulance service in the Swabhiman Anchal of Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
Two boat ambulances have been set up with adequate facilities to provide emergency medical service to people living in cut-off areas.
One boat ambulance will be stationed at Arapadar and the other one at Kuntarpadar.
They are connected to the 108 ambulance service and can be availed of by dialling the emergency number. The ambulances also have GPS devices.
The novel service will benefit over 20,000 people residing in around 40 villages which have no road communication.
Last year, boat ambulance service was introduced in Mahakalapada block of Kendrapara district.
