Malkangiri: Bodies of four persons, who had gone missing after a boat carrying them capsized in Barlabandh canal at Chitrakonda of Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Monday night, were recovered on Wednesday.
Following a 24-hour of search operation, fire personnel retrieved the bodies including that of a child. The deceased have been identified as Dohara Sisha (40), Budri Sisha (70), Radhika Sisha (25) and Tulsa Sisha (2).
The police seized the dead bodies and sent it to the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital for postmortem.
The mishap took place when seven persons were returning to their village after completing some agricultural work near Nakamamudi.
On being informed about the incident, fire personnel and ODRAF team swung into action and rescued three persons immediately.
In a similar incident, six fishermen swam back safely to shore while one was rescued in a critical condition after their boat capsized in sea near Gokharkuda in Ganjam district.
