Anugola: In tragic incident, a fisherman died after his boat capsized while fishing in the Brahmani River near Rengali Dam in Odisha’s Anugola district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Nilakantha Behera of Rengali village under Kaniha block in the district.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place under the jurisdiction of Rengali police station when Nilakantha had gone to catch fish in the river on the downstream side of Rengali Dam in a small boat in the wee hours. While he was casting the net for fishing, the boat suddenly capsized and sank.
Other fishermen who were fishing nearby rescued Nilakantha. However, he had reportedly died by then.
After getting information about the incident, Rengali Police and Kaniha Fire Service personnel reached the spot and recovered the body. Efforts are on to ascertain the circumstances that led to the mishap.
