Bhubaneswar: Three fishermen including a 10-year-old child have been stranded in the middle of Chilika lake as their boat got stuck in the weeds for the last three days.
According to sources, the fishermen belonging to Pathara village of Ganjam district had gone for fishing in the lake in a country boat. When they reached middle of the lake near Gada Ghimuda jetty under Krushna Prasad block in Puri district, the boat got stuck in the weeds.
The fishermen informed the locals about their plight. As the boat was stranded in deep water covered by weeds, the locals sought the help of Fire Brigade.
A team of fire personnel from Maluda have reached the spot and started rescue operation. Details are awaited.
