Puri: A boat with around 50 passengers on board reportedly got stranded in Chilika lake close to Satapada in Odisha’s Puri district on Monday.
Apart from the passengers, the ferry boat was carrying over ten motor-cycles, some bicycles and several other goods when it got stuck midway, sources said.
The passenger boat was reportedly proceeding to Janhikuda in Krushnaprasad area from Satapada when it got stranded in the middle of the lake. While the exact reason is yet to be ascertained, the boat was reported to have developed some technical problem after sailing around half-a-kilometre from Satapada.
On being informed, the local administration swung into action and took immediate steps to rescue the passengers who were in a state of panic.
