Bhubaneswar: A mechanised boat carrying over 40 people reportedly got stuck in Chilika Lake in Odisha’s Puri district due to a technical glitch on Sunday.
According to sources, the boat with the passengers and 15 two-wheelers was on coming to Janhikuda from Satapada. While it was in deep water of the lake, the boat’s engine stopped functioning near Maensa village.
As the boat stopped moving, the passengers got panicked and started shouting for help. On coming to know about the incident, the locals from Maensa rushed to the spot and started to bring the passengers to the land.
The rescue operation was going on till the report was filed, the sources said.
