Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra visited the eco tourism spot near Patora dam of Nuapada district on Thursday morning to review the arrangements for tourists.
The Chief Secretary along with Principal Secretary in Water Resources department Anu Garg and Nuapada Collector Swadhadev Singh supervised matters relating to tents, security, food, night stay, sanitation and cleanliness in the surroundings.
Speaking to mediapersons the Chief Secretary said, ” The spot has been well developed and we are hopeful of attracting a large number of tourists from different parts of the country.”
As has been the trend for all eco-tourism spots in the county, local youth will be trained and engaged in upkeep and management of the tourist facilities here, he added.
To include water activities as part of eco-tourism, Mahapatra said one jetty would be constructed at the water body and boating facilities would be arranged. This facility too shall be managed by local people, the Chief Secretary added.
The revenue generation from eco tourism would directly benefit the locals who are engaged in the work.
Patora is located on the bank of river Jonk and is surrounded by scenic view and is famous for Yogeswar temple.
