Panaji: A week after they went missing when their fishing boat collided with an Indian Navy submarine in the Arabian Sea off Goa coast, the bodies of two fishermen have been recovered
“The Indian Navy and Coast Guard jointly undertook a week-long search effort, which helped localise the fishing boat’s wreckage on the sea bottom,” Indian Navy said in a statement.
The bodies were found near the wreckage of the boat, with assistance of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation personnel.
The vessel named ‘Marthoma’, with 12 persons on board, had collided with the submarine around 70 nautical miles northwest of Goa. The submarine was travelling between ports when the mishap took place around 9.30 pm on November 21.
Ten of the crew who were on the fishing boat were immediately rescued, while a major search operation was launched to find the other two.
