Sambalpur: The bodies of two minor boys, who went missing after drowning in river Mahanadi in Odisha’s Sambalpur, were fished out of the water near Samaleswari Ghat on Saturday.
According to sources, the two students were swept away by the strong currents of the river near Dhobapada Ghat under Khetrajpur police station limits in Sambalpur on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Kanisk Kanit and Himanshu Singh of Tiwari Gali locality. Both were Class IX students. They were taking a bath in the river in the evening when the incident took place
On being informed, team from the fire service rushed to the spot and launched a search operation till late in the night. The Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team from Jharsuguda and fire service personnel and resumed the search operation and the bodies were recovered from Samaleswari Ghat.
