Jajpur: Bodies of a man and his son, reportedly swept away by floodwaters near Balia Swainkhanda under Bari block, were recovered on the outskirts of Gangadharpur village in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday.
Sources said Kishore Singh (55) and his son Kailash (34) were grazing their cows near the embankment of the Brahmani on Wednesday afternoon when a calf fell into the river. Kishore jumped into the river to rescue the calf but was swept away by the swirling floodwater. His son, who also jumped in to save him, was also feared drowned.
Fire Service personnel, which began a search operation after being informed about the incident, had failed to trace them.
The villagers, however, spotted the bodies floating along bamboo shrubs near a primary school this morning.
