Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Saturday recovered the body of an engineer of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) with multiple injury marks inside his car near Jaanla on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased has been identified as Manoj Mishra, Assistant Executive Engineer of BMC.
Mishra had gone to Nayapalli from his house at Patia in the night on Friday. But as he did not return, the family members tried to contact him on his mobile phone but found his phone switched off. Later, they lodged a complaint with the Chandrasekharpur Police.
Acting on the complaint, police began a manhunt in the city and found the body of Mishra inside his car with multiple injury marks near Jaanla Outpost in the morning on Saturday.
Alleging that Mishra has been murdered, the family members have demanded a high-level investigation into the case and the arrest of the criminals at the earliest.
The post-mortem of the body was conducted at the Capital Hospital later in the day.
Meanwhile, police have begun investigation into the incident.
