Bhawanipatna: Body of an engineer was recovered from Peepal nullah at College Square near Bhawanipatna town of Kalahandi district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Tapan Kumar Nayak (20), a resident of Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.
Tapan, who was engaged for inspection of an irrigation project at Kharia division, had gone to a hotel near Manikeswari high school with a peon of his office to consume liquor. Later, he went to answer nature’s call to a nearby field.
When he did not return for a long time, the peon started looking for him and found his body lying in the nullah.
Police reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem.
However, police sources said that investigation is on to ascertain the exact reason behind Nayak’s mysterious death.
