Cuttack: The body of the second minor boy, who went missing in Kuakhai river, was recovered near Pratap Nagari bridge in Odisha’s Cuttack on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Ritu Ranjan Madhi of Patia in Bhubaneswar. The body of another minor, identified as Ashutosh Pal of Shikhar Chandi in Bhubaneswar, was recovered on Wednesday.
According to sources, five friends aged between 15-16-year-old went to take bath near the bridge, connecting Pratap Nagari and Barang, when three of them slipped into deep water while taking a selfie and were swept away due to strong current on Wednesday.
The local residents and divers jumped into the water and rescued one of the minors. Cuttack Sadar police also rushed to the spot with ODRAF and Fire Service Team and launched a search operation, which was resumed again this morning after being halted last evening after the body of Asutosh Pal was retrieved from the river.
All of the boys were residents of Bhubaneswar and they had gone to Pratap Nagari to celebrate Ganesh Puja at their friend’s house, the sources added.
