Sundargarh: The body of a four-year-old girl, who went missing two days ago, was found in a drain near a farm at Jada village under Gurundia police station in Odisha’s Sundergarh district.
The family of the deceased alleged the girl was murdered and her body thrown in the nullah.
Police have detained a couple in connection with the incident, sources said.
Locals said the girl had gone out to play two days ago and did not return home in the evening. The family members and others searched the entire area but failed to trace the girl. However, her body was later found floating in a small nullha near a farm land.
The police have filed a case of unnatural death and are investigating the incident. The neighbours couple have been detained, while their son has been sent to a government hospital for medical examination.
The police are investigating the incident from all possible angles, including murder, to ascertain the cause of death of the girl.
