Cuttack: Police have recovered the body of a cab driver, who had gone missing from Odisha’s Cuttack city, in Keonjhar.
As per reports, the taxi owner, Raj Kishore Biswal had filed the missing complaint at Malgodam police station in Cuttack. He had stated that the cab driver, Bhagawan Bairiganjan, had taken three passengers to Jajpur from Cuttack on June 23 and has been missing since then.
A police team conducted initial investigation and tried to trace the location of Bairiganjan’s mobile phone. The team carried out extensive search in Ghasipur and Ghatagaon, but could not find Bairiganjan.
On June 27, the team was informed by Keonjhar police that an unidentified body had been found near Jajpur-Keojhar National Highway under Ghasipura police limits. The body was subsequently identified as that of Bairiganjan. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to Bairiganjan’s family.
Inspector Arun Kumar Swain said two men and a woman had hired the cab from College Square Taxi Stand in Cuttack to Jajpur on June 23. Police have recovered the CCTV footage and photographs of the persons who hired the cab.
The abandoned cab was found at Govindpur village near Niali in Cuttack. Bairiganjan’s family has filed an FIR at Ghasipur police station and further investigation is on.
