Body Of Five-Year-Old Boy, Abducted From Surat, Found Inside Train Washroom In Mumbai

Mumbai: The body a boy, aged about five, was found inside a washroom of an express train at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Mumbai on Saturday. The boy was abducted from Surat. One of his cousins is absconding.

According to the police, the body was recovered from a washroom of the AC III-tier B2 coach of the Kushinagar Express by cleaning staff. The train was undergoing routine cleaning at the station when the body was found. Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel on the platform were immediately informed and they took custody of the body.

A Panchnama was prepared before the body was sent to Rajawadi Hospital for post-mortem, the authorities said.

A case regarding the boy’s abduction was registered at the Amroli police station in Surat on Friday. The boy’s cousin was named as the accused.

Following the complaint, the police placed the suspect’s mobile phone under surveillance, tracing movements toward Mumbai. A police team reached LTT around 4 am on Saturday to inquire about the missing child and the accused. Upon arrival, the team was informed about the recovery of the body from the train.

A photograph of the body was sent to Surat, where the family confirmed its identity. The child’s family is originally from the Siwan district in Bihar. Further investigation and search for the accused are underway, the police said.
