Rourkela: A 35-year-old man was found hanging inside an office at NAC New Market near Panposh Square on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Ashwini Kumar Barik, a resident of Sector-6 C Block.
According to sources, local shopkeepers raised an alarm after noticing that the office, belonging to Balaji Developers, owned by Saroj Kumbhar
, remained locked from the inside throughout the day. Peering through a glass window, they spotted a man hanging from the ceiling fan and alerted police.
Meanwhile, Raghunathpali police reached the spot and sent the body to Rourkela Government Hospital for postmortem to determine the exact cause of death. Investigation is also underway to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide or homicide.
Sources further stated that Barik was previously employed at Balaji Developers but had quit his job a few days earlier for reasons that are not yet known. While questions are being raised as to how he gained access to the office, his father, Adhir Barik, and brother, Manoj Barik, have called for a thorough probe to uncover the truth behind his death.
