Bhubaneswar: Body of G Ramamurthy Reddy, native of Golanthara village in Ganjam, was brought back to Odisha from Gurajat, where he had succumed while undergoing treatment after suffering a brain stroke, on Saturday.
He was working in Gujarat for the last few years.
On August 1, the 46-year-old was admitted to a private hospital in Gujarat after he suffered a brain stroke. His family members requested the doctors to cover the medical expenses under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). The medical staff allegedly declined as the hospital was not empanelled under the scheme, sources said.
Following which, his family sought the help of Odisha-Mo Parivar , the social service wing of the Biju Janata Dal, which contcated its pspokesperson in Gujarat, Pradeep Sahu, who then provided assistance to shift Ramamurthy to another hospital where his treatment can be availed under BSKY scheme.
He, however, could not saved even after a successful surgery. The representatives of Odisha-Mo Parivar then made arrangements to transport the moratal remains back to Ganjam.
