Bhubaneswar: The body of a teenaged girl was recovered from a pool inside a guesthouse at Raghunathpur in Odisha capital on Friday
According to sources, she was the daughter of a professor of the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) here. The farmhouse belongs to an excise commissioner.
“The CCTV footage shows that she entered the farmhouse at 2 am last night,” the father of the deceased told mediapersons.
He further said that she had scored 89 per cent in the Plus II examination, but was under depression due to low percentile in JEE. “She cried a lot after getting the results and became very serious thereafter,” he said.
He, however, added that there was no pressure on her from the family regarding her studies.
“She had never been to the farmhouse before. Therefore, we are suspicious about the circumstances under which he reached here and later drowned in the pool. We suspect someone could have guided her to the place,” he said.
He further said that if his daughter wanted to commit suicide, she could have gone to the big pond near their house and not taken the unknown stretch.
Though the exact reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained, police along with a scientific team have begun an inquiry into the incident.
