Berhampur: The body of a home guard was recovered from a pond at a village in Badagada area of Odisha’s Ganjam district under mysterious conditions on Monday.
The dead body of the home guard, identified as Balaram Das, was found in the pond located near Badagad police station in the district. The deceased was a home guard at Badagada police station, according to sources.
Das had allegedly not reported for work in the police station for the last one week. However, the local people spotted the dead body of the home guard floating in the pond.
On getting information, a police team reached the site and recovered the body from the pond. The body was sent to Badagad community health center (CHC) for postmortem.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances in which the home guard died. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy. Further details are awaited.
