Bengaluru: The mortal remains of Naveen Shekarappa, a medical student who died in Russian shelling in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, will arrive at Bengaluru airport on March 20.
“Naveen’s body will arrive in Bengaluru on Monday at 3 am,” Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said in a tweet on Friday.
A final year student of Kharkiv Medical University, Naveen had gone out to buy groceries and essentials on March 1 when he was wounded fatally in a round of shelling in the city centre.
The 21-year-old Naveen’s mortal remains are likely to be taken to his native town of Haveri for last rites.
