Bhubaneswar: The body of the 14-year-old boy, swept away by Daya river currents on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, was fished out by fire service personnel on Friday.
The mishap took place when the boy, a resident of Indira Colony in Lingipur area, was bathing in the river on Thursday evening.
The boy suddenly slipped into the deep water and was swept away. On being informed by locals, fire service personnel launched a rescue operation.
Two scuba divers were also engaged in the rescue operation but they could not trace the boy till late Thursday night.
The rescue operation was resumed on Friday morning and his body was recovered after four hours of extensive search.
While the body has been sent for autopsy, police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the mishap.
