Bhubaneswar: Body of a Plus II student, who had been missing since last two days, was recovered from Sagadia drain near Rachia village under Dharmasala police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Rudra Prasad Behera (17) of Abhaypur village in the district.
According to sources, his family had lodged a complaint with police after a frantic search to locate him when he went missing on September 3. Locals spotted a body floating in the canal this morning and informed police. Rudra’s family members were also called in to identify the body.
While police have launched a probe into the incident, the boy’s family alleged that he was murdered and the body later dumped in the canal. It is being suspected that he was killed over a love affair.
