Rourkela: The body of student of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, who went missing after being swept away in a river, was recovered near the steel city on Sunday.
According to sources, the student had gone out with some friends for a bath near a dam at Akhaishila on Saturday. While taking a bath, he accidentally slipped and was swept away due to strong current.
A search operation was launched to trace the missing student and bis body was fished out of the river. The body was stated to have injury mark on the head. The identity of the student was not immediately known.
A team of police personnel from Bisra rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. Arrangements were made to send the body for postmortem.
The family of the deceased had been informed. Further details are awaited.
