Jeypore: Junior engineer of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) M Venkat Rao, who had gone missing during a tour to Haradaguda in Odisha’s Koraput district on Monday, was found dead inside a forest on Tuesday.
According to sources, Rao had gone to Haradaguda on Monday with two junior engineers, SDO and two contractors in a vehicle to review the ongoing project work. He went missing while the team was returning from the village. After failing to contact him over the phone, the team later lodged a complaint in the B Singhapur police station.
Acting on the complaint, police began a search operation and recovered the body from Musamati forest.
The body was then sent to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem.
Earlier, Rao’s wife had said that her husband was under mental stress as his salary for the month of December was not released. She had met Borigumma SDPO last evening and urged him to expedite the search operation.
