Bhubaneswar: The body of a newborn girl was reportedly found in a dustbin on the premises of the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
According to sources, some people in the hospital spotted the baby girl wrapped in a cloth lying inside the dustbin near the Paediatric ward of the Odisha government-run hospital. On closer inspection, they found that the newborn was dead and informed the hospital authorities.
On being informed by them, the hospital authorities called the Capital police station. A police team went to the spot and started investigation. After checking the newborn girl, the hospital’s doctors confirmed that she was dead, police sources said.
The police enquired about the baby from the people who had found her and the local people. They have also collected the CCTV footage from the Capital Hospital and nearby areas to identify the person who had dumped the baby in the dustbin.
