Berhampur: The body of a newborn girl was recovered from a drain in Purushottampur area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.
According to sources, some local residents spotted the body of the baby girl lying in the drain in the morning. They were shocked to notice it and soon realised that the newborn was dead.
They informed the police regarding the body. On being informed, a team of police personnel visited the and seized the body.
The police have launched an investigation to ascertain as to who abandoned the newborn girl in the drain. Steps were also taken to examine the CCTVs in the area.
