Balasore: Body of an Odia labourer arrived at his native village Narasinghpur under Nilagiri police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district from Telangana on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Manoranjan Mahapatra.
According to sources, Manoranjan was working as a contract labourer in a granite factory at Karimnagar in Telangana since last 10 years. However, he was seriously injured in an accident inside the plant two days ago and succumbed to his injuries.
Following his death, the factory management informed the family members about the incident and sent the body to their village with two senior staffs.
While handing over the body, the company staffs handed cash of Rs 20,000 to the family members.
But the family members and the villagers demanded more compensation from the company.
The family members of the deceased later lodged a complaint with the Nilagiri police station demanding a probe into the incident. They also requested the local police to contact the Karimnagar police to probe into the circumstances in which their kin had died.
