New Delhi: With Hindustan Unilever (HUL) finally dropping the word ‘Fair’ from its flagship beauty brand ‘Fair and Lovely’, netizens welcomed the move to rebrand the cream. Celebrities also too took to social media to applaud the decision.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her team wrote on Twitter: “It has been a long and sometimes a very lonely battle but results only happen when the whole nation participates in the movement”.
Bollywood ‘badshah’ Shah Rukh’s daughter Suhana, who has faced prejudice based on her skin colour, also hailed the move. She shared a post on her Instagram handle that reiterated the brand’s announcement. “Hindustan Unilever announced that it would rebrand its skin-lightening cream ‘Fair and Lovely’ and drop the word ‘Fair’ from the product,” she wrote.
“It has also committed that it will remove all suggestions that success is linked to skin tone or colour in its communication,” she added.
