Mumbai: Actress-turned-politician Roopa Ganguly on Monday alleged that Bollywood has been making people ‘drug addicts’ and the Mumbai police has so far remained silent on the drug nexus.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, Roopa has also alleged that the Mumbai film industry is “killing people” and has been in news for insulting woman, but no one is doing anything to check the wrongdoings.
“Why is the Bollywood silent over the sexual harassment charges levelled by Payal Ghosh against Anurag Kashyap? Why Mumbai Police is not taking any action against the filmmaker?” questioned the BJP leader.
Roopa’s statements came a couple of days after actor Payal Ghosh alleged that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had forced himself on her when she had been to his residence to ask for work.
The filmmaker, however, denied the allegations and has issued a statement through his lawyer.
“My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest…,” Anurag’s lawyer Priyanka Khimani issued a statement on his behalf on Monday.
