Cuttack: An accused in bomb attack escaped from police custody in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Saturday.
As per reports, the accused, identified as Biranchi Mantri from the district, was arrested and brought to Athagarh police station late Friday night. He was allegedly involved in a case of a bomb attack that took place at Amrutamanohipatana village on August 9.
Biranchi was absconding following the incident. Acting on a tip-off, the police had nabbed him from the village.
He was detained in Athagarh police station for interrogation. Two policemen were deployed to guard him in the police station. But he managed to evade the attention of the police and escape.
Admitting the escape of Biranchi, Athagarh SDPO said they have launched a manhunt to trace him.
