Brahmapur: Miscreants hurled bombs at a residential area of Kukudakhandi on the outskirts of Odisha’s Brahmapur city, triggering panic among locals.
According to preliminary information, a group of miscreants reportedly arrived at Harijan Sahi in the area on five bikes and hurled bombs in the locality late on Monday night.
The incident took place close on the heels of a sword attack on a youth from Bauri Sahi in the locality.
Following the bomb attack, the miscreants tried to flee from the site. However, local residents pelted stones at them, during which two of them fell from their vehicles and the villagers later caught them.
On being informed, a team from Sadar police station reached the spot and tried to rescue the two accused from the villagers. However, the residents also stopped the police vehicle from leaving the area.
The villagers said that they will not allow the vehicle to leave until all the accused involved in the incident are arrested. The situation remained tense as police attempted to bring the situation under control.
The latest incident came after some miscreants allegedly attacked a youth from Bauri Sahi with a sword on the main road at Kukudakhandi. The youth sustained minor injuries in the attack.
