Bhubaneswar: Amid the ongoing elections in Odisha, two motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly hurled a crude bomb in front of the BJD office at Gadasahi in ward 38 of Nayapalli here at around midnight on Thursday.
According to sources, a motorcycle was damaged in the incident which took place while more than 20 workers were having a meeting in the office. They reported to have seen two persons fleeing the spot on a motorcycle. The explosion shook the entire area.
The attack came two days after Nayapalli witnessed a confrontation between BJD and BJP workers during electioneering. However, it is still unclear if the bombing was a reaction to that dispute.
On being informed, Nayapalli police reached the spot and began an investigation to identify the culprits.
