Bombs Hurled At PCR Van; Two Police Personnel Injured

Cuttack: Two police personnel were injured after unidentified miscreants hurled bombs at a PCR van in Kurunti village under Sadar police limits late on Friday.

They were immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.
Receiving information that bombs were thrown at contractor Alokendu Das’s house, the officials from Sadar police station reached the spot. Seeing the cops, the criminals also hurled bombs at the police vehicle.
A couple of days back, the accused, identified as Juga and Babuna, had demanded Rs 50,000 from Das over construction of a house in the locality. However, Das refused to give the money. Irked over which the duo entered his house last night and demanded Rs 1 lakh by brandishing gun and later hurled bombs.
They managed to flee the area after committing the crime.
A motorcycle bearing registration number OD 02 Y 8445 was seized from the spot.
Meanwhile, two persons were detained in connection with the incident.
